Fall ’20 GWC graduates participate in the April 30, 2021 ceremony at GWC.

Yes, all graduates are required to complete the Graduation Application regardless of participation in a ceremony. You must complete the Graduation Application in order to receive your diploma. The deadline is October 9.

Yes, graduation candidates will indicate whether or not you will attend a ceremony in the Graduation Application.

All commencement ceremony information will be sent to both your AU and personal email that we have on file for you. The commencement website will also reflect this information at a later date.

You can order and pay for your cap and gown by visiting the Herff Jones website. A cap and gown are required to participate in the ceremony. The deadline to place your order is Friday, April 2.

  • Bachelor cap, gown, tassel - $22.70 plus $7.95 shipping and handling fee = $30.65*
  • Master cap, gown, tassel, hood - $46.00 plus $7.95 shipping and handling fee = $53.95*
  • Doctoral cap, gown, tassel, hood - $59.65 plus $7.95 shipping and handling fee = $67.60*

You will receive your regalia in the mail approximately 2-3 weeks after ordering through Herff Jones. Your package will be mailed to the address you provide while placing your order on the Herff Jones website.

You will receive your honor cords after checking in the day of your ceremony. If you are not planning to attend the ceremony, you may email gwcevents@aurora.edu to arrange the pick-up/mailing of your cords.

Undergraduates completing their course of study with a minimum of 30 semester hours earned at Aurora University will graduate with academic honors. Graduation Honors require the following cumulative grade-point average:

  • Summa Cum Laude: 3.90 to 4.00
  • Magna Cum Laude: 3.75 to 3.899
  • Cum Laude: 3.50 to 3.749

You will receive your Gold Ivy Leaf Medallion after checking in the day of your ceremony. If you are not planning to attend the ceremony, you may email gwcevents@aurora.edu to arrange the pick-up/mailing of your medallion.

Undergraduates with superior scholarship who have completed a minimum of 90 semester hours for a letter grade at Aurora University and are graduating with at least a 3.75 cumulative grade-point average (Magna Cum Laude or Summa Cum Laude honors) receive the Gold Ivy Leaf Award. Those earning this designation by Monday, March 15 preceding commencement will be listed in the printed program. Students achieving at least a 3.75 cumulative GPA by Monday, March 15 preceding commencement with less than 90 semester hours for a letter grade at Aurora University will be reviewed on an individual basis.

Diplomas for Fall 2020 graduates will be mailed approximately March 1, 2021.

Yes. Each participating graduate will be allowed two guests. We recognize that some students may have more guests who wish to attend, but two guests per student will be strictly enforced. All guests, including infants and children, will be required to have a ticket. An event live stream will be available for additional guests wishing to watch the ceremony from home.

Graduates were emailed their assigned ceremony date/time on April 7. If you did not receive this information, please email commencement@aurora.edu .

You will receive your 2 guest tickets in the mail in mid-April. Due to limited seating, there are no additional tickets available.

Yes. All ceremonies will be streamed on the commencement website. Additional information on how to access the livestream will be posted on the commencement website in the weeks leading up to the ceremony.

The ceremony will be approximately 1 hour.

Yes, wheelchair seating is limited and must be reserved by the graduate. Please email gwcevents@aurora.edu to reserve a spot for your guests.

Yes, all graduates and guests will be required to wear a mask.

For the protection of all graduates and guests, everyone entering the campus will be subject to screening. This will include the use of metal detectors and inspection of bags. Please see Safety and Security for more information.
