Environmental Educational Foundation offers new scholarship to area students

GWC is offering a new $2,500 scholarship thanks to the Environmental Education Foundation (EEF). The scholarship, established in honor of the foundation’s 35th anniversary, will be awarded to a local student planning to major in an environmental program.

“George Williams College is built upon a rich history of education spanning over a century in the Geneva Lake community,” said Aurora University Vice President for Enrollment Donna DeSpain. “This tradition continues with service-orientated majors and programs dedicated to the science and protection of natural resources. Our faculty, staff and students strive to be stewards of the Geneva Lake area, supporting the community’s educational needs and offering unique opportunities for hands-on education. We couldn’t be happier that the EEF is offering additional support to our students.”

The EFF scholarship will benefit a high school senior who graduates from a private or public high school in the Geneva Lake community. The recipient must be accepted into GWC as a full-time freshman focusing on one of the college’s environmental majors, including criminal justice (emphasis in conservation), environmental science (sustainability) or outdoor recreation and leadership management. Students may also be eligible for additional financial aid and scholarships.

“This new scholarship to attend George Williams College represents another important step in making environmental education opportunities possible for Geneva Lake area students, as the Environmental Education Foundation has been doing for 35 years,” said EEF President Charles Ebeling. “Through this new $2,500 scholarship to GWC, opportunities will open up to students attending college on their beautiful campus right on the shores of Geneva Lake. As an affiliate of the Geneva Lake Association, we greatly appreciate the contribution support for the foundation’s scholarships from so many community members.”
