Delavan-Darien High School graduate named Presidential Scholar

Sherri Wegleitner, a recent graduate of Delavan-Darien High School, has been named a Presidential Scholar at George Williams College of Aurora University in Williams Bay. Wegleitner is one of this year’s two recipients of the prestigious four-year, full-tuition scholarship, which was established for first-time freshmen who live in Walworth County.

“Sherri is an amazing young woman and we are excited to welcome to her GWC,” said GWC’s Vice President for Enrollment Patrick Peyer. “Sherri has a strong academic background, and has dedicated much of her young life to helping others. Her interest in a major in Social Work and service to those around her perfectly align with George Williams College’s history of service to others.” She was chosen to receive the competitive scholarship based on the strength of her academic accomplishments, an detailed application and an essay.

“Because of this scholarship, I won’t have to stress about the financial aspect of furthering my education, and I’ll be able to fully focus on my studies instead of the bank,” said Wegleitner, who plans to major in social work. “I look forward to not only being able to thrive in GWC’s close-knit community, but also helping it grow.”
