Walworth native receives Presidential Scholarship

Anna Featherstone, of Walworth, has been named a Presidential Scholar at George Williams College of Aurora University in Williams Bay. Featherstone is one of this year’s two recipients of the prestigious four-year, full-tuition scholarship, which was established for first-time freshmen who live in Walworth County.

A recent graduate from Faith Christian School, Featherstone has been accepted into the university’s nursing program and is enrolled for the fall 2018 semester. GWC’s innovative nursing program features state-of-the-art nursing skills and simulation labs to provide students and faculty with cutting-edge learning and teaching environments. Operating in conjunction with AU’s longtime nursing program in Aurora, Illinois, the program seeks to fill a rising demand for highly qualified nurses in the region.

“I’m extremely grateful to receive the Presidential Scholarship, which will help me achieve my goal of becoming a nurse by allowing me to focus on my studies,” said Featherstone. “GWC will allow me to obtain a quality education in nursing while continuing to work and grow my skills as a CNA at Golden Years of Walworth.”

She was chosen to receive the competitive scholarship based on the strength of her academic accomplishments, a detailed application and an essay.

“Anna is a wonderful young woman and we are honored to be able to help her achieve her goal of becoming a nurse,” said GWC’s Vice President for Enrollment Patrick Peyer. “Her strong academic background, dedication to helping and supporting those around her perfectly align with George Williams College’s history of service to others.  We are very excited to welcome Anna to GWC.”
