2020 Presidential Scholarship Recipients
Janessa Walker and Alivia Bradford receive 2020 Presidential Scholarships.

Alivia Bradford of Byron, Illinois, and Janessa Walker of Germantown, Wisconsin, were recently named George Williams College of Aurora University’s 2020 Presidential Scholarship recipients. The four-year, full-tuition scholarship is awarded each year to first-time freshmen.

Bradford plans to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree with a minor in psychology at GWC, and Walker will pursue a Bachelor of Social Work degree.

“While this scholarship acts as a huge financial reliever, it also acts as a reminder of how I am meant to go into the field of nursing,” said Bradford. “Receiving this scholarship helps encourage me to continue to work hard and become the best nurse and person I can be.”

Similarly, receiving the scholarship will also allow Walker to focus on achieving her goals.

“This scholarship will help me achieve my goals and focus more of my time and energy on my education rather than my finances,” said Walker. “I’m looking forward to spending time on campus, meeting new people, learning more about myself, and taking steps towards my dream of becoming a social worker.”

Bradford and Walker were chosen for the competitive scholarship based on the strength of their academic accomplishments, detailed applications, and essays.

“George Williams College has a long history of helping to prepare students for service to others and our scholarships help fulfill both student dreams and our mission,” said Kate Herrick, GWC’s vice president for academics and student life. “We are excited to offer two full-tuition scholarships this year, one to a future social worker from Wisconsin and one to a future nurse from Illinois. We believe that both Janessa and Alivia will be excellent students and will make major contributions to our learning community at George Williams College and then to their own communities upon graduation.”
