GWC names 2021 Presidential Scholarship recipients
Sydney Sanders of Beloit, Wisconsin, and Hannah Schlanger of Poplar Grove, Illinois, were recently named George Williams College of Aurora University’s 2021 Presidential Scholarship recipients. The four-year, full-tuition scholarship is awarded each year to two first-time freshmen.
“This scholarship will allow me to reach my goals by granting me the chance to focus on my studies and it helps alleviate any extra stress that may have been caused by finances,” said Sanders. “I am looking forward to continuing my education and preparing for my career at GWC.”
For Schlanger, earning the scholarship provided her with reassurance that she can achieve her goals.
“Not only does this scholarship provide me with financial support, but it shows me I can do anything through hard work and dedication,” said Schlanger. “The nursing simulation labs at GWC are beyond anything I had seen at other universities, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn in them.”
Sanders and Schlanger were chosen for the competitive scholarship based on the strength of their academic accomplishments, detailed applications, essays, and interviews.
“George Williams College has a long history of helping to prepare students for service to others and our scholarships help fulfill both student dreams and our mission,” said Kate Herrick, GWC’s vice president for academics and student life. “We are excited to offer two full-tuition scholarships this year, one to a future social worker from Wisconsin and one to a future nurse from Illinois. We believe that both Hannah and Sydney will be excellent students and will make major contributions to our learning community at George Williams College and then to their own communities upon graduation.”
